I Interviewed My Children about Crochet

Image
My family has to deal with ALL my craziness.  I mean all of if it.  Between bouncing off ideas for school, and different suggestions for our family activities, they hear all my crazy ideas.  Not only that, they have to deal with my crochet craziness.  They listen to me talk about yarn, they put up with me writing about them from now and then on my blog, and they endure the many photo shoots I request of them for modeling and displaying my new products.   I wanted to make a post about how my children feel about what I do.  I sat down with each of them individually and asked them the same questions.  I have not changed what they've said.  I've always thought that children have the most pure minds.  They are brutally honest, and I love them for that!   ASHLEY (12) What do I do for my job? - You teach the young minds of 4th graders What is my favorite hobby? - Crocheting. What is your favorite thing that I ever crocheted for you? -...

Ashley being "sweet"

We were watching the first Harry Potter one night and Ashley saw all the money that Harry's parents left to him in Grigott's Bank.  This is what she said next:

Tooth Fairy

While on vacation, Ashley noticed her tooth was loose.  Daddy and I were out at the movies at the time, but when we came home, she was so excited to tell us.  For the next week she couldn't contain herself.  She felt like such a big girl and was so excited for it to fall out.  I was happy because usually she's worried about anything and everything hurting, but not this time.  This time, all she cared about was the significance of the tooth, and that it meant she was growing up!

I'll Love You Forever

While putting Ashley to bed: Ashley:  I love you forever, Mommy. Me:  I love you more. Ashley:  No you don't, I'll love you longer because you'll die before me.....but I don't want you to die...I want you to stay the way you are right now. LOL!  That was her trying to make up for talking about me dying.  How sweet, Ashley.

Harry Potter Teaching Life Lessons

Image
While driving to school I was letting Ashley know that we were going to the dealership when I pick her up, so that they could give us an estimate on the trade in value for our car (we're planning on purchasing a new one soon). She didn't understand banks at first, but she eventually got it.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Image
Ashley:  "Mommy, April showers make more flowers!."      Me:  " You're right!  I know the saying as 'April showers bring May flowers, but yours definitely makes sense too!"

A Date Night With Our Oldest

Image
My husband and I decided it would be nice to take our oldest, Ashley, on a "date night".  Just us.  We left Lilly at home with the babysitter.  The night was all about Ashley, and she loved it!      We started by going to a play downtown put on by Stages.  All the actors/actresses in this company are children.  This weekend, they were putting on a play called "Seussical."  Ashley has recently done a week on Dr. Seuss books in school.  She loves them so much, mainly because they are early reader books and she is able to read quite a bit by this author.  Anytime she saw the sign on the streets for this upcoming play, she would shout "I see the Cat in the Hat, hat!"  I knew she would be excited to go see this!

Over the Rainbow...

Image
Sometimes I forget the innocence of children.  How each and every day is something new for them.  They have only been with us for a short time, so things that we, as adults, take for granted, is a whole new world of wonder for them.      Such as, something as simple as a rainbow in the sky.

Sneaky Ashley

Image
This is my oldest daughter, Ashley.   She looks so sweet and fun loving in this picture, doesn't she?  Well, she is both of those things, most of the times.  She has another side of her though.  LOL, she's sneaky. Very sneaky. And it worries me just a little!

While Doing Flashcards....

We have an app on our computer that does flash cards for all reading levels. We feel it is important that Ashley learn her beginning sight words. When Ashley reads a word, I also have her use it in a sentence so I know that she is comprehending what she is reading. This is what happened the other day. The word "be" came up. She said, "Be!" ...."Mommy is a Queen Bee." Well said, Ashley. Well said. (Yes I realize the word was not used correctly, I addressed it after my burst of laughter!)
