FREE Pattern: Mini Crochet Stocking
I love my job. Teaching is what I've always wanted to do. I feel so blessed I get to do what I love. I don't usually have a lot of time during the holidays to make much, so these mini Christmas stockings are perfect for me. I can make these in about 5-10 minutes each, so it's easy enough for me to make one for each of my students. They get these and it makes them happy. I think they really appreciate that I take the time that I take to make it for them. I'm sure they like the candy I put in it too!
Materials
Hook - G/4mm
Yarn - Red Heart with LOVE Berry
Darning Needle to sew in ends.
Start with a magic ring, or ch 5 and slip stitch into first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Inside the ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3dc, ch1, (4dc, ch1)* 4 more times. Then slip stitch into the top of first ch 3. You should now have 5 groups of 4 dc.
Row 2: sl into the next 2 stitches and again into the ch 1 spot. (Ch 3, 3dc, ch 1, 4 dc) all in that ch 1 spot. Jump to the next ch 1 spot and (4dc, ch 1, 4dc). Repeat in the next 3 ch 1 spots as well. Sl st into the first Ch 3. You should have worked in all 5 ch 1 spots when you are done.
Row 3: sl st to the next ch 1 spot. (Ch3, 5dc) in that ch 1 spot. {3dc in space between 2 corners, 6 dc in corner ch1 space} repeat around and slip stitch into first ch3.
Finishing:
- Before I sew up the sides, I make sure to tie off my beginning end. It's much easier doing it now, then when it's sewed up.
- Next, slip stitch to next ch corner space.
- Fold it in half, and then sc the sides together. Some people like to slip stitch, but I like the look of single crochet on the edging better.
- When you get to the middle of the heel, 3 sc in the same space
- When you get to the top of the side put 2 sc in the last stitch. Do not crochet across the top as that is your opening.
- After you do the 2 sc, chain 15, and sl st into the 2sc spot. Cut yarn and tie of.
