FREE Crocheted Pumpkins Pattern!

Fall is slowly creeping up on us, (YAY) and that means all things PUMPKINS!!!  Pumpkin lattes, pumpkin carving, pumpkin patches and pumpkin decor.  It's definitely my favorite time of year, so I wanted to offer you yet another free pattern.  This month, my free pattern is for crocheted pumpkins!

These are fun for your kids to play with, to decorate your house with, or to sell at the fall craft fairs!  I've sold quite a few of these.  They are very quick to work up, and because of that they can be priced pretty low.  Kids eat them up at the fairs, and so do parents.  I mean, who wouldn't want a stuffed pumpkin???

I have created three different shapes: tall and skinny, short and fat, and a basic round one.  I just used the orange I had on hand but any orange would work great.  Once I get some dark/burnt orange, I'll be making some more pumpkins in that as well.

Materials:
Abreviations:
  • Sc - single crochet
  • sc dec - single crochet decrease
  • ch - chain
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
STEM
  • The stem will be the same for all three shapes.  If you are doing more than one pumpkin, I like to do all the stems first, and then add the oranges on next.

Round 1: Magic ring, with 4 sc, ( I don't do joins)
Round 2-4: sc in each st around - make sure the right side is facing out.
  • sl st in next st
  • ch 6
  • sc in 2nd st from hook, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, ch 2, sl st in that same bottom st, on other side of the chains, ch 2, dc in first ch, hdc, hdc, sc, sl st into point
  • sl st on the side of leaf, down to the bottom of the stem
  • sl st over 2 st
  • ch 10 and put 2 hdc in each chain until you get to the stem again.
  • evenly sc 6 around the bottom of the stem (under leaf and curl)
