FREE Pattern: Mini Crochet Stocking

I love my job. Teaching is what I've always wanted to do, and I feel so blessed I get to do what I love. I don't usually have a lot of time during the holidays to make much, so these mini Christmas stockings are perfect for me. I can make these in about 5–10 minutes each, so it's easy enough for me to make one for each of my students. They get these and it makes them happy. I think they really appreciate that I take the time to make it for them. I'm sure they like the candy I put in it too!

Pattern

Start: Make a magic ring, or chain 5 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.

Row 1: Inside the ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc, ch 1, (4 dc, ch 1) repeat 4 more times. Sl st into the top of the first ch 3. You should now have 5 groups of 4 dc.

Row 2: Sl st into the next 2 stitches and into the ch-1 space. In that ch-1 space work: (ch 3, 3 dc, ch 1, 4 dc). Jump to the next ch-1 space and work: (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc). Repeat for all 5 ch-1 spaces. Sl st into the first ch 3.

Row 3: Sl st to the next ch-1 space. In that ch-1 space work: (ch 3, 5 dc). Then {3 dc in the space between two corners, 6 dc in the corner ch-1 space} repeat around. Sl st into the first ch 3.

Finishing

  • Before sewing up the sides, tie off your starting tail (way easier now than after it’s closed).
  • Slip stitch to the next corner chain space.
  • Fold in half and single crochet the sides together (don’t stitch across the top opening).
  • At the middle of the heel: 3 sc in the same space.
  • At the top of the side: 2 sc in the last stitch.
  • Chain 15 for a hanger, then sl st into the 2-sc spot. Cut yarn and tie off.
