Duck Security Blanket Pattern


     I have made many of these cute, cuddly, security blankets.  I just love doing them!  I decided to put out a free pattern for the duck one. The blanket on each is the same, as well as the head for many.  So here it goes.  Let me know if you tried it out and how the pattern worked for you.





Blanket ( H hook)
Row 1:  Chain 62.
Row 2:  Sc in 2nd chain from hook.  (skip 2, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2, sc in next ch)  Repeat till the end.
Row 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, *skip 2 st, 1 sc (in top of shell), skip 2 st, 5 dc in next st.*  Repeat from * to *when you get to the end, instead of 5 you will only do 3 in the last st
Row 4:  Ch 1, 1 sc in first st. *skip 2 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 2, sc in next*.  Repeat from * to *.
Rows 5 - 40:  Repeat Row 3 and Row 4.  Last  row will be a Row 3.
Row 41:  sc across the top in each st.

Border - (H hook) with new color
Round 1:  Sc all the way around.
Round 2: *Sc, skip 1, 5 dc in next st, skip 1* Repeat * to * all the way around.
Tie off ends


Head: (G hook)
Round 1: 6 sc into Magic Ring (if you don't know how to do a magic ring: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook)
Round 2:  2 sc in each st around (12 total)
Round 3:  *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next* all the way around (18 total)
Round 4:  *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2* all the way around (24 total)
Round 5:  *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 3* all the way around (30 total)
Round 6:  *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 4* all the way around (36 total)
Rounds 7-11:  sc in each stitch around (36 total)
Round 12:  *sc decrease in next two st, sc in next 4* all the way around (30 total)
Round 13:  *sc decrease in next two st, sc in next 3* all the way around (24 total)
Round 14:  *sc decrease in next two st, sc in next 2* all the way around (18 total)
Start stuffing the head here with fiber-fil
Round 15:  *sc decrease in next two st, sc in next st* all the way around (12 total)
Round 16:  sc decrease all the way around (6 total)
Tighten up and secure.  Make sure to leave a long tail to sew on to the blanket.

Wings (G hook) (make 2)
Round 1: Ch 2, 4sc into 2nd ch from hook (4 total)
Round 2:  *sc in next, 2 sc in next* repeat around (6 total)
Round 3:  sc in next, 2 sc in next, sc in next 2, 2 sc in next, sc in last (8 total)
Round 4:  *sc in next 3, 2 sc in next* repeat around (10 total)
Round 5:  sc in next 2, 2 sc in next , sc in next 4, 2 sc in next, sc in last 2 (12 total)
Round 6:  *sc in next 5, 2 sc in next* repeat around (14 total)
Round 7:  sc in next 3, 2sc in nest, sc in next 6, 2 sc in next, sc in last 3 (16 total
Round 8:  *sc in next 7, 2 sc in next* repeat around (18 total)
Round 9: 1 sc in each st around (18 total)
Round 10:   *sc decrease in next 2, sc in next 4* repeat around (15 total)
Round 11:   *sc decrease in next 2, sc in next*, repeat around (10 total)
Round 12:  *sc decrease in next 2*, repeat around (5 total)

Beak: (G hook)
Repeat Rounds 1-3 of Wings pattern
Round 4:  sc in each st around (8 total)

Sew all pieces on, finish off, and hide tails.
